IDEAS is a global nonprofit organization that is dedicated to fostering the data engineering and data science ecosystems and broadening the adoption of their underlying technologies to accelerate the innovations data can bring to society. Our goal is to create a community to connect AI, Blockchain, and Data Science enthusiasts. All of the conferences that IDEAS host will demonstrate cutting-edge technology and feature a variety of AI, Blockchain, and Data Science experts covering topics including industry trends, real-world applications, open-source software, solutions-based case studies, and many others.

Kyle Polich, Host at Data Skeptic
Kyle studied computer science and focused on artificial intelligence in grad school. His general interests range from obvious areas like statistics, machine learning, data viz, and optimization to data provenance, data governance, econometrics, and metrology. He is the host of Data Skeptic, a podcaster about data science, statistics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, all through the eye of scientific skepticism. Outside of the show, he’s an advisor for a few early-stage startups and consults with growth companies to deliver end-to-end data solutions. Kyle is a mentor for aspiring data scientists through his teaching with Thinkful, mentoring at NewMet Data Science Bootcamp, and one-on-one mentorship arrangements.

Personal assistants and other Chatbots have been growing in popularity recently. While this technology is certainly nascent, it seems like these early prototypes will iterate into advanced tools for interfacing with computers. Such systems are driven by advancements in natural language processing, which are mostly due to advancements in deep learning. This presentation will overview the landscape of research and tools. Additionally, we’ll demonstrate how the upcoming IDEAS bot is being developed, and provide hands-on examples of the technology being used to create it.
